Ranveer Allahbadia who runs the popular BeerBiceps podcast participated as a panellist in Samay Raina's bold show India's Got Latent. The internet backlash against Ranveer Allahbadia's offensive jokes has led to demands for stricter oversight of online shows like Latent which streams on YouTube.
Samay Raina and several celebrities serve as judges for performers in India's Got Latent. The performers present their talents to the audience while the judges evaluate their performances. Contestants win if they successfully predict their performance score. A combination of its dark humour tone together with profanity use and loose structure format has attracted both fans and critics to the show.
Ranveer Allahbadia's inappropriate joke
During the most recent episode Ranveer Allahbadia interrogated a performer about their parents engaging in sexual activity. The podcast host posed the question about whether they preferred to watch their parents engage in sexual activities daily or participate in it with them to bring it to a conclusion. Samay Raina and the panelists applauded loudly but the internet showed its displeasure. One tweet read "How can anyone forget that terrible Ranveer Allahbadia clip."
One commenter stated, "It's time you learned about 'dark comedy'." After Ranveer made those inappropriate incest-related comments will the National Creator Award committee revoke his award? Or do awards come with no accountability?”
The internet strongly disapproved of Ranveer's jokes including his remarks about Kerala's literacy rate. Ranveer laughs most intensely while making fun of Kerala in the video. And, for what? Literacy?! Makes sense! Malayalees are primarily responsible for exposing the falsehoods in his hate-mongering videos according to one tweet.
Twitter users called upon authorities to monitor shows like India's got latent controversy because these YouTube-hosted programs avoid streaming platform censorship. "Hello @BeerBicepsGuy, Shame on you! The comment asked @MIB_India to investigate these unfiltered shows that distribute vulgarity and cheapness.
